Alabama Nursing Continuing Education Requirements
RN Requirements
- 24 hrs of continuing education each renewal period
- RN: Every 2 years, with RN renewal occurring in even-numbered years.
- First renewal: 4 hrs Alabama Board-provided CE covering Board functions, Nurse Practice Act, regulations, professional conduct/accountability
LPN Requirements
- 24 hrs of continuing education each renewal period
- LPN: Every 2 years, with LPN renewal occurring in odd-numbered years. (Alabama Secretary of State)
- First renewal: 4 hrs Alabama Board-provided CE covering Board functions, Nurse Practice Act, regulations, professional conduct/accountability
APRN Requirements
- 24 hours of continuing education for advanced practice nurses
- Renewal cycle: 2 years
- Pharmacology: 6 Pharmacology
- Required topic: Pharmacology related to prescribing/APRN practice
