How RN license renewal works
Each state board of nursing sets its own renewal cycle (usually every two years) and its own continuing education requirement. Some states also require specific topics, such as child abuse reporting, infection control, implicit bias or nursing law.
You complete your contact hours, keep your certificates, and attest to completion when you renew with your board. In CE Broker states we report your completed hours for you.
Contact hours by state
Requirements differ widely — for example California asks for 30 contact hours every two years, Florida 24 hours with mandated topics, and Pennsylvania 30 hours including child abuse recognition. Choose your state below for the current rules and the courses that meet them.
Finish every renewal hour in one place
All-Access includes every course in our library for a full year, so one purchase can cover a full renewal. Courses are online, self-paced and can be read or listened to, and your certificate is issued the moment you finish.
