Registered Nurses in California must complete 30 nursing CEUs every two years to renew their license. This requirement is set by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). The CEUs must come from approved continuing education courses for nurses. Both online and in-person nursing continuing education options are accepted.

In California, one hour of continuing education equals one nursing CEU. This means 30 hours equals 30 CEUs for nursing license renewal. These hours can be completed through registered nurse CEU online programs. Many nurses choose fast CEUs to meet renewal deadlines.
