What the Texas Board of Nursing requires
RNs and LVNs complete 20 contact hours every two-year licensing period.
Nursing jurisprudence and nursing ethics: at least 2 contact hours every third two-year licensing period.
Older adult or geriatric populations: at least 2 contact hours every licensing period if your practice includes these patients.
Forensic evidence collection: at least 2 contact hours within two years of starting in an emergency room setting (one time only).
Human trafficking prevention: an HHSC-approved course.
