New Mexico Nursing Continuing Education Requirements
RN Requirements
- 30 hrs of continuing education each renewal period

- 30 hrs of continuing education each renewal period
- LPN: Every 2 years.
- For APRNs who prescribe controlled substances and have a DEA: five hours non-cancer pain management continuing education.
APRN Requirements
- 30 hours OR current national APRN certification of continuing education for advanced practice nurses
- Renewal cycle: 2 years
- Pharmacology: 5 hours non-cancer pain management if DEA holder; 10 pharmacology hours for non-certified APRNs
- Required topic: Non-cancer pain management; pharmacology requirements apply to non-certified APRNs
