Required courses
RN: Continuing-competency requirements may be met through qualifying nursing practice and/or continuing education under the Board's current rules. LPN: No general fixed CE-hour requirement for ordinary renewal. Action: Fast CE's older “30 hours or 900 practice hours” wording should be rechecked before being retained. Good to know
Louisiana's RN renewal/continuing-competency system is not accurately represented by simply saying “30 CE hours or 900 practice hours.” The Board uses practice/CE competency requirements and the exact requirement depends on the nurse's practice history. LPNs do not have the same general CE requirement as RNs. Source: Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
