Infection Control – 3 hrs every 4 years. Child Abuse – 2 hrs for RNs at required intervals/initial requirement.
Required courses
RN: 3-hour infection-control course every 4 years and 2-hour child-abuse identification/reporting course as applicable. LPN: 3-hour infection-control course every 4 years. Both must use NYSED-approved coursework or qualify for an exemption. (Office of the Professions)

RN: Must complete NYSED-approved infection-control coursework every 4 years unless exempt. RN applicants also have a 2-hour child-abuse identification/reporting requirement, generally a one-time requirement unless otherwise required by law. LPN: Infection-control coursework every 4 years.
